ARTICLE IX:
Amending Procedure
SECTION 1: Procedure
Proposed amendments to this Constitution, which has
reference to piecemeal amendments or to the adoption of an entire
document, (Text), must first be submitted to the National Legal
Advisor, the National Parliamentarian, the National Commander and
the National Executive Director. The first three (3) named officers
shall determine whether the proposed Text is stated in proper form.
They shall be free to suggest and/or aid in re-writing, if necessary.
Next, within 30 days from submission to the named
officers or from the re-writing, whichever is later, but in any
event in not later than 60 days from the date of submission to the
officers, the Text shall again be immediately submitted to the National
Executive Director who shall forthwith send a copy of the Text to
all legally constituted Chapters of the AGIF - U.S. for their review.
Thereafter, an AGIF State Board of Directors must
adopt the Text in principle by simple majority vote.
Next, the Text shall be sent forthwith to each member
of the AGIF National Executive Board of Directors at least thirty
(30) days before a meeting thereof called by the National Commander.
The members of the National Board shall consider and debate the
Text and vote on adoption or rejection in part or in whole. Adoption
must carry by 2/3 vote of such Board.
Finally, the Text shall be presented to the ensuing
AGIF National Conference, which shall forthwith consider the Text.
Upon approval of the Text in part or in whole by 2/3 vote of said
National Conference, the National Commander shall pronounce the
Text as approved in final form.
