Does a scholarship
applicant have to be Hispanic? |
| A: |
Applicants with an Hispanic-American
background will receive initial consideration. Non-Hispanic
applicants will receive consideration if there is not a sufficient
pool of Hispanic applicants. The American GI Forum of Lake County
provides scholarships to promising Hispanic-American and Hispanic
high school graduates. |

Do I have to be
a member of the American GI Forum of Lake County. |
| A: |
No. Applicants must
be a citizen and/or legal resident of the United States of America,
of Hispanic heritage, and residents of Lake County, Illinois,
for one year. See Scholarship Eligibility and Qualifications.

Do I have to be
a veteran or a student of a veteran? |

No. Applicants must
be a citizen and/or legal resident of the United States of America,
of Hispanic heritage, and residents of Lake County, Illinois,

How long does
it take to complete the Scholarship Application? |

It takes about 30 minutes.
All requirements listed on the application must be completed.
Incomplete applications will be disqualified. The American GI
Forum of Lake County reviews income information of all the family
members who support the student. It also reviews income of independent
students. |

What determines
the scholarship amount awarded? |
| A: |
Scholarship amounts
are based on financial need and availability of scholarship
funds. A students grade point average (GPA) does not factor
into the calculation. |

application deadline? |

A specific date has
not been determined for the American GI Forum of Lake County
2004 Scholarship. Historically, the deadline has been in September.
